About DJ Matt (he/him)

Originally from Michigan, Matt Kurowski is the founder of Stumptown DJs and has been DJing various events for over 18 years.  He now considers Portland his home and has been here for over 19 years. He is married to his wonderful wife Danah and has two kids, Lincoln and Etta.

A professional, organized and flexible DJ, Matt caters to a variety of clients and is always willing to adjust to their needs (e.g., games, event management, song requests, announcements, etc.). On the day of, he also helps organize the flow of events and coordinates with all on-site vendors.

Sure to get the party started and keep things running smoothly, Matt is your go-to DJ and MC for a fun and successful event.

How did he start Stumptown DJs?

During the recession of 2008, he lost his sales job and decided to switch gears. Matt noticed how tight money was getting for soon-to-be-married couples and that there were many people looking for DJs online. With his passion for music and entrepreneurial spirit, he decided to create a DJ business for people who wanted quality service at a reasonable price and designed the entire business around real problems in the DJ industry. With his favorite coffee being Stumptown and it being a fun nickname for Portland, Stumptown DJs was born.
